Starbright Privacy Policy

Starbright is a puzzle game made by Hey Presto (Thomas Hamson, United Kingdom). This policy explains what information the game uses and why. In short: we don't ask who you are, and we never collect your name, email, contacts or precise location.

What the game collects

Anonymous play information

To understand how far players get and which levels are too hard, the game sends us simple play events, such as:

  • a level started or finished;
  • the stars you earned, how many taps it took and how long it took;
  • hints used, adverts shown, and whether No ads was bought;
  • the game's version number.

These are linked to a random ID that the game creates on your phone. That ID means nothing outside Starbright and isn't connected to your name, your Google account or your phone number. Uninstalling the game removes it.

We use this information only to improve the game. We don't sell it, and we don't use it for advertising.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Starbright is free and shows some adverts, provided by Google AdMob. To show adverts, measure them and prevent fraud, Google may collect:

  • your device's advertising ID;
  • your IP address and approximate location;
  • information about your device and how you interact with adverts.

If you are in the UK, the EU or another region that requires it, the game asks for your consent first through Google's consent form. If you don't consent, you will only see non-personalised adverts. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your phone's settings.

Google's use of this information is covered by Google's own policy: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Purchases

The No ads purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details; we only receive confirmation that the purchase was made, so the game can switch adverts off.

Sharing

If you tap share after a puzzle, the game creates a picture of your result and hands it to the app you choose. Nothing is shared unless you tap share.

What stays on your phone

Your progress, stars, settings and hints are saved only on your phone.

Where information is kept

Play events are stored securely with our hosting providers, Vercel and Neon. We keep them for up to two years and then delete them.

Children

Starbright is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Because play events are anonymous and not linked to you, we usually can't tell which ones are yours. If you have any questions, or want to ask about your information, contact us and we'll help.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
